I made a brave attempt to bake a sponge chiffon cake for the very first time. I had no idea how to do it. The recipe I downloaded from the internet was quite vague.Luckily, I found a video from the web on how to bake one. I’ve tried baking a cheesecake and oatmeal cookies before, but that was it.Baking a sponge cake is a lot different.
While a sponge cake can be eaten by itself, it can also be used as a base for cake decoration. I’ve enrolled myself in a four-session cake icing and decorating class this coming September, and I don’t want to appear as a novice in baking. That’s why I’ve started practicing. My first attempt was not so successful. The cake turned out deformed in shape. I also took to heart the instructions in the recipe to be careful not to overmix. As a result, I had a few portion where the flour is still there. The taste was good though. I vowed to do better the following week.
Last Saturday, I made my second attempt.This time, the cake was well formed and much better than the last time.Take a look at my first and second attempts.
